Caribbean Golf - Golf The Dominican Republic

Travel to the Dominican Republic for some of the best golf courses in the Caribbean, designed by experts such as Jack Nicklaus and P. B. Dye. Caribbean good weather all year round adds to the comfort and pleasure of golfing there. Visit the Barceló Bavaro Beach Golf and Casino Resort, which caters to both guests and visitors. It offers an 18-hole course designed by Juan Manuel Gordillo. As of March 2009, renovations will be made by the famous designer, P. B. Dye. Play amidst palm trees, a sparkling lake, and lush green foliage.

Enjoy a spectacular game at Casa de Campo, the course often ranked as one of the best of all time and a feature of Dominican Republic golfing. The director of Golf at Casa de Campo, Gilles Gagnon, once said: "Playing golf at Casa de Campo is like playing on three different planets,” The three P. B. Dye courses each offer unique and fantastic features that challenge your skills like never before.

Try your skill at the famed “Teeth of the Dog” golf course, ranked 43 in the entire world. Stunningly green paspalum grass and rolling greens create a fabulous Caribbean sight. Traverse 7 holes right next to the sea and take the view of the stunning cliff, river, and marina. Conquer the infamous 5th hole, right at the ocean’s edge and firing at a peninsula 175 yards away.

Next on the list of Dominican Republic courses, visit the Dye Fore golf course, which measures a staggering 7,740 yards. 7 cliff-side holes drop 300 feet to the Chavon River below.  Then, head on to the Links course, located in the resort. Placid lakes and lagoons filled with wading birds decorate the course while palm trees sway in the Caribbean breeze. Watch out for the sand traps and the water, as this course may not seem as difficult as the other two mentioned golf courses, but will challenge you just as mercilessly.

For a challenging and affordable place to golf on Dominican Republic, visit the Catalonia Caribe Golf Club. Designed by Alberto Sola, this course has 18 championship holes and 9 regular holes spread out on lush greens surrounded by five lakes and palm trees. Narrow fairways keep you on your toes while the lakes and lush trees make a pleasant environment to play in. Fees go as low as $75 to use the greens.

A premier choice for golfing experts, the Punta Espada Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus. This golf course offers a striking layout filled with tropical foliage, winding waterways, lakes, and a lovely Caribbean beach view. The par 72 championship golf course stretches out for more than 7,000 yards, enhancing your game with natural beauty and adding even more to your Caribbean golf vacation.
